2016 Concours D’Elegance on Amelia Island

From gas-guzzling muscle cars to state-of-the-art battery-powered driving machines, the 2016 Concours D’Elegance didn’t disappoint. The annual gathering held on Amelia Island marked a three-day golf-less weekend across the Ritz-Carlton and Golf Club of Amelia Island properties, with several events rolling out impeccable rides, including Cars & Coffee at the Concours: Saturday’s free-admission event featuring over 250 cars on display, lining the fairways and greens of Amelia’s prestigious oceanfront golf courses.

If shelling out anywhere from $95 for early-bird tickets to $120 at the gate for Sunday’s main event was a little above your price range (although certainly worth every penny), then Saturday at the Concours marked an excellent opportunity to get a sneak peak to see what the world-renowned coastal car show is all about. Motor heads from across the globe flocked to the fairways to show off their collection of classic cars haling from a wide range of motor-car eras.

One of the highlights from Saturday’s event included Jaguar’s 1934 SS1 Walmsley Roaster, a two-seater sports car custom-made for the Chairman of SS Cars Ltd., William Walmsley. This open-air roadster was considered state-of-the-art during its time, rolling out of the factory with chrome-wire wheels, adjustable shocks and an aluminum body made to save weight and built with optimal speed in mind.

Other highlights included the unveiling of the Buick Avista concept car, Revology Shelby-endorsed Mustang replicas, and more Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Porsches and Maseratis than we could count. This is the part where we’ll shut up now and just show you the cars.
